Smart phones have almost killed cold calling, but in many parts of the world, making a cold call is still part of the prospecting process.

Eliminating this opening question from most first-time interactions significantly improves any sales process.

Here’s the question to stop asking in a cold call: How are you today?

Do you care how that person is doing? Asking that on a call without context or relationship, which is what a cold call is, transmits that you don’t.

Stop asking how they are doing.

Here’s what you ask instead:
