Three Foundational Business-Building Systems

Even big dreams need a little structure sometimes.

It all starts with an Average Entrepreneur having an idea for a business.

Maybe it started with daydreaming of a better job. Or a nightmare product experience that you think should change.

Before you act on that idea, you must stop and do one thing:

Think it through.

But not more daydreaming. You need some structure. A foundation. Some direction.

Anything built on a poor foundation soon collapses. Starting without a destination and some direction, just gets you lost.

So we need some basic systems to guide our thinking and actions.

There are three foundational systems I use in building every business opportunity.

These help me recognize a great opportunity from a not-so-great one.

Each was created by Ash Maurya . (I started as Ash’s student. I’ve since become a teacher of the mindsets, systems and skills learned.)

You might have heard of them:

  1. The Lean Canvas

  2. The Customer Factory Blueprint

  3. The Customer Forces Canvas

You can find some online at https://www.leanfoundry.com/ or written about in Running Lean Mastery .

Paid subscribers to The Average Entrepreneur can access them in PDF below.

In the next issues, I’ll show how I’m investigating a $100M business idea with these systems. It’s a real-life case study, straight from my international venture-building.

I hope you will join me.

Until then, press on.
